It's never my intent to draw attention to technique, but for technique to be a straightforward support of a subject's experience. Likewise environments are deliberately vague so that external worlds cannot compete with internal ones. Accents, gestural strokes, shadowy or light patches, and the compositions themselves aim to serve as a spotlight, prompting the viewer to contemplate the subject's circumstances almost exclusively.
