It's nice to meet you.

 

I'm a figurative oil painter whose work explores loss and longing with a good dash of hope. I believe the shades of gray are the most moving in our human experience, and the most unsettling. It is within that elusive, uncomfortable space we grow more layered as people. For the artist, these nuanced states can be challenging to convey; my subjects will often have eyes closed to underscore they are arriving at something deeply personal, or smile through rotted teeth. My hope is for viewers to glean from their pain-optimism, and connect it to their own.

My aim is not to create technically polished works, but for surfaces to appear purposefully haphazard. I sometimes incorporate glitter and stickers to contrast dark themes and palettes with actual refractions of light and a childlike naivete. Duality is a common theme throughout my work.
